As much as the general pisses me off, they've made some decent advances in OHV V-8 design.

Of course, the specific HP output of their engines finally matches those of the imports from 10 years ago....

And yes, the 454SS was and still is waaay overrated.

The SS454 only made 230-255hp stock. Witch is lame for a big block. The 318 in the 92+Dakota's had 230hp and that is a small block. And before someone say's that the 92+ 318 is MPFI and the 454 is a TBI. The 318 was making 230hp back in 1970 with a 2 barrel.
The SS454 was a bad truck when it came out, I'd propobly would drool if one of the big 3 would put a big block in something now.

the 454 was making over 400 hp in the 70s too, wtf does that have to do with anything. It was all about the tourqe that that truck put down.
