I'm obviously in the minority here, but I think primer cars look like shit. Your car looks great now, don't change the color.

Yea I wish I had my Houndstooth in there for that PS, that picture was the right one for the idea I had in mind when I did this.

As far as the rims go, they're just larger basketweaves, then I took the lip and copy/pasted and enlarged it for that step lip.

I like the look, but you cant clearcoat primer. Primer also doesnt hold up very well on its own.
It would look cool but painting the car the Maroon you want and them putting a matt clear on it would be best(you could still wash wax like regular paint)
Do it if your paints really as bad as you say it is.

              Maybe matte paint then?

Eh my paint isn't that bad, but I am OCD and have a higher level of OCD for my E30 as well...only a stellar paintjob would make me truly happy, but I've learned to control myself and not worry too much about it.

It is, that picture was before the Ground Control. That was stock suspension, just looks a little lower because I was up higher aiming down with a tripod.

If your paint isnt really that bad than dont paint it. If it has all original paint leave it nothing is ever as good as factory. I work at a body shop and have never seen paint work from anywhere(even the stuff I do) that i would be comfortable enough to have on my entire car. My E30 has dents, scratches, chips and oxidation. im an Idiot about paint cleanliness but its original factory on everypanel and thats the only way ill have it.
Keep it claybared and waxed and that paint will be just fine.

Yeah this whole primer deal is the kind of thing that's cool to look at on other people's cars, but would suck to look at every day on your own.

I just dont get the primer thing at all. It's kind of like the "Hoodride" thing that the VAG kiddies like so well. "OOH, look at me, I have a rusty old VW." Sorry, in my eyes, that rusty hunk of crap is an eyesore.
