It is possible. I have seen an orange 2002 with orange carbon dash pieces and orange carbon bumpers. It was real too.

What did they do? I have heard of company's intertwined colored fiberglass into the carbon fiber. Is this how it would be done?

I don't know. I believe the shop that did it was J&L Fabrication in Puyallup, WA.

Mix paint with extra reducer and add clear to the paint. Then fog it on using an HVLP gun from a distance. Use good fluid back and forth strokes. Practice on something first to get an idea of the depth of the color...

So someone good could get the color to match the rest of the car but have the carbon textured look coming through?

The paint sprayed lightly can be made to be translucent so yes it can and has been done.

Thanks for the pics. Thanks the color combo I am doing. The black flag/red car with black kopis and polished lip (eventually).

Kopis don't really have much of a lip to polish.

you don't even gotta do all that. House of color sells all kinds of different shades of "candy" paint. it's easier than trying to thin out some basecoat. but more expensive.
