    some new work

i know i haven't been around. truth be told, i'm happy with where my e30 is so i feel no real need to want to do any more to her, instead i've been getting back into photography. I've also been airsofting quite a bit, got myself a constant 3 man squad with some extras here and there.

story: i got inspired to do these shots after watching 1000fps vids on youtube, so i set up a simple rig in my backyard consisting of water balloons, and a wooden stool.
    gun used: brother's echo1 g36c shooting 350 fps with .20 ae's.
    equipment used: canon 400d with sigma 70-200 f/2.8 at 200mm. 1/4000 @ f/4.5 iso400

    the victims

    awaiting execution

    aaaand hit

we went through about 20 balloons or so, these are the ones that came out the best.

you can see the projectile in this one

    and good ol explosions

    and late shots

and last but not least, my favorite.

we're gonna try it with a coke can tomorrow and more balloons. enjoy!

oh and bobross, these are for you.

Great work, I like the contrast between the stool/balloons and the black background. Really makes the shots pop. Did you put up a dark backdrop cloth? Did you use auxilliary lighting on the stool or just natural daylight?

thanks for all the comments, i'm still waiting for bobross.

                      paging bobross

now to your questions: actually, i just used natural daylight at high noon. the dark background was due to the shading of a tree i had in the back. in some of the photos you can see little bright blobs here and there, and i admit, they are a bit distracting, but being this my first shoot of this type, i'm still learning. i plan to redo the shoot with a dark backdrop and maybe some controlled lights to have hte water droplets stand out, but for now, i'm very very pleased with how this came out.
