HOWTO: Post a sig request that won't get ignored

When I get bored I like to troll the photoshop/sig request sections of r3v and bf.c lowering cars, making sigs and putting owls in drivers seats. I'm not a graphic artist by any stretch, but I like to toy around with Gimp. That said, some threads I just don't bother with:

1 - Don't post crummy pictures. This is the biggest one. Your picture needs to, in some way, inspire me.
1a - Washed out pictures I can work with, blurry pictures I can't. Your terrible scanned pictures aren't going to fly.
1b - Pictures with crummy backgrounds (your driveway, a K-Mart parking lot) are boring to make into sigs, I'm not going to waste my time chopping your car into a cooler setting.
1c - If you have a crummy car (like mine?) then 1b goes double for you
1d - Give me multiple pictures to work with and make sure they're a decent resolution.
1e - Get the entire car in the frame and leave plenty of empty space around it. Everyone wants their nickname in the picture, leave me somewhere to put it.
2 - Don't be a jerk. "Make me a sig". I'm not your slave, I'm bored and want to lend a hand. Everyone likes a little gratitude

3 - Don't Ignore your own thread. If I get into your thread and see 3 or 4 sigs that people have made for you and you haven't said a word, I'm not going to bother. It doesn't bother me if you don't use the sig I made you. It does bother me if you don't use any of the sigs anyone made you. If you can do so much better why did you even post?

4 - Do make suggestions. If there's something you want your sig to say (or not say), post it. If there's a logo, link it. The more I know about your preferences the closer to your ideal image I can get.

Oh and this isn't a thread to post sig requests in, its just some tips on getting the sig you want. Make a thread if you want a sig, if I'm bored enough I might get to it one day. I'm not saying I'm great at this kind of thing, but these tips will increase everyone's interest in your thread.

Very good recommendations. I think this should be stickied (hint).

Well I'm definitely glad my sig request didn't fall into the 1b, 1d, and 1e category for shitty driveway pictures, posting one picture of my car, and my car filling the frame, lol. But Rashid you worked your magic, and I'm liking my new sig. Must've been a slow day at work eh?

edit: I second the sticky motion.

Those are good tips. My only rule has been "Don't expect me to take your trash and turn it into treasure."

I once saw a sig request on this board where the car had mismatched wheels, a shirt hanging up in the back window, the car was dirty and had a couple of dents in it, and it was sitting in an apartment complex parking lot with several other cars around it.

With some time I probably could have fixed it up and made it look decent but if I am volunteering, I would hope that the requester could at least try to not make it so difficult to help him. Even if they can't meet me half way, I would say to at least TRY to make a good photo of the car.

Agreed on all counts, requesting a sticky.

Totally have to bump this, it has been lost for a bit, and really should be stickied.
