    Making a shirt

I'm looking to make some "Save Darfur" shirts with this design on them. My GF's sister wants me to make them for her for her senior project.

    My questions are:

Where do you recommend I go to make these shirts?
What file type does the image have to be in to work?
What resolution do I make it so that its not pixelated?
    Anything else you can recommend...

    Thanks for the help.

Depending on the quantity, a T-shirt shop is about the best place to go (you can find one in the yellow pages) because you get the best prices. I think most shops have a 25-50 shirt minimum. Any less than that and you are probably better off using the iron-on transfer paper.

Anyhow, the TIFF or EPS formats are probably the most likely ones to be used by the shop. They would probably take JPEG but they might charge you an additional setup fee to make the non-printing area of the image transparent. 300 dpi is usually standard for most applications like this, however, they might require your image to be a certain size so that they don't have to stretch it to the point where it starts to become distorted. The last company that I dealt with made some banners for me that were 20x30 but he told me that as long as the electronic image was at least half of that (10x15) then it could be stretched without it getting jagged or pixilated.

Also because some shops deal with so many boneheads who do not know how to properly size and set up artwork, they might not even allow you to bring your own designs. I mean I am sure that they will use your image as something to reference but more than likely, they will want to charge you to redo your artwork.

I have my own site on cafepress.com. They make a good product and are not too expensive.

As an image type, i would use vector images, that is the best for that kind of printing, you can use ai, cdr, fh10, just try to avoid bitmaps tiff, jpeg, bmp (images).

This gives you a file in which you can choose whatever color you want for each part of the drawing. Also you can use them for a vinyl cutting plotter to cut stickers.

With vector files resolution does not matter.
