I wouldn't know where to begin!
I've never used 3d modeling programs before, and I've only been on solid works for 2 weeks, so I think I'm doing alright...
This was our very 1st assignment!

I finished it earlier today so I'll post some pics tomorrow.
I'm very happy with the results.

Wheels are 16x8" et+10
Tires are probably too fat for e30 use but i wanted them to look meaty for presentation.
This was a 2 week assignment, our fist 3d modeling class.
The task was to model any object we design, and include several specified features of solidworks. Of course i had to do something for the e30!

This is 100% my design, and modeled from scratch.


I'm very happy with the results.

lightwave is still around?! gosh... i remember using that like 10 yrs ago on this pc my dad built. i thought 3d studio max and other things had replaced it.

op, where did you get all the wheel dimensions? or did you just "guesstimate"?

I dimensioned everything myself.
Everything is 1:1 scale
I would say Solidworks and rhino are the leading 3d modeling programs around at present.

Unigraphics (UGS) rings a bell when I think of leading edge 3d modeling.

i love ug. having everything built right into the software for analysis and simulations is fantastic.

Man, I love Solid Works. I went from AutoCAD to SW, and it's amazing how much more powerful it is.

Some of us still use and enjoy this program, why would those other ones replace it? They all do the same thing at the end of the day.
