Snow tires are popular for rallycross because they are so soft. Soft Gravel tires are the best.

I will be out west with FY Racing #425. We will be running a 2002 STi in Open class.

What KennyT said. I'm going straight HDs until I can afford more. My cage guy has HDs plus like a dual stage spring, not sure what it's called. It's got like a helper spring to settle the car, then a bigger one for the big hits.

Strut towers front and rear are reinforced on my car. There's like a plate that covers the tower and the cage ties into the strut tower. Same on the rear.

Cage guy's gravel tires are Hankook Ventus, and it looks like 170/650/R15. They're huge in comparison to stock tires. A lot of people use snow tires for rallycross I guess. I've only done autox and rally school so far, no actual rally experience...yet.

Tires will be 185-205/60ish/R15. I have a few Dmack Grippa's laying around for my daily/rallycross car.

For suspension, there isn't much available for E30's in the way of nice gravel suspension. Your best bet would be a set of re-valved Bilstien HDs, and by a set I mean several sets.

Any of you guys coming out to the Olympus Rally or Oregon Trail?

What are you true rally guys running for tires (size) and suspension? I really would like to get into rally and was just about to buy new tires and suspension, and wondered if there was anything to look for in particular.

Going for logbook the 16th, hopefully making Maine in July. Don't forget to find that secret E30 warehouse!

First paved shakedown at Quonset next weekend!

I don't rally an E30 but my shop runs several open class and SP rally cars. We have been rallying together as a business since 2005 and individually long before that.

I think Rally Tennessee is coming up soon. And I think the rally school in Florida hosts events from time to time...

I'm bumping this because I just rallied my E30 for the first time. Pics are in the thread linked below.

We did some rallycross courses, and then did the rally circuit (two miles or so), which was AWESOME. Also, my suspension was not set up for this, but thanks to a hefty skidplate, I survived. Next time it will be stock suspension with Bilstien HDs or something.
