That 2nd to last lap was a nail biter bro.
That black e30 did that twice, to you and that miata(think thats what it was) that I saw. Guess that shows what happens when you dont have ABS huh? I still think you had his ass when you dove inside him on that turn. His late breaking was ass'tastic. Was he flagged for that? What happened in the after race meeting?

oh and I demand pics and info on the car NAHW!!!! Not Nahw, but NAHW!!!!

          -------------------------------------------------------------
          DAMN NICE!!!

            Sorry for the delay:

The Miata you saw pushed off track actually hit the E30 in front of me causing him to get loose. The Miata driver came over and apologized to the guy after the race. As far as our incident neither one of us did anything wrong. I thought I had a run going into one so I slipped to the inside. I realized I would not be able to make the pass stick so I gave up the apex. He took the apex then just got loose. It was a 35 min. race I think his tires were just gone. We talked after the race both just glad that we did not hit each other or the wall.

The car is a Spec E30 so it has a stock engine, Billie sports, H&R Race springs, Spec legal sway bars/camber plates/exhaust, and all delrin bushings and mounts.

            Sunday Video coming soon!!

            Pics:

these pics are a little old, and the car now looks slightly different, most notably some new creases in the passenger side fender from that off in the video.

Cool deal. That's where I hope to be someday...

Will they make you fix the creases? Seem to remember something in the rules about body damage....

^^I doubt that they will worry about that little bit on the fender. The car looks plenty presentable. NASA usually seems to favor the 50/50 rule (from my experience).

Right above the bumper shroud on the passenger side I got a 7 inch crease from what I can only imagine came from my front spoiler hitting and pushing back up into the fender. That fender already had a bend in it by the door from the po trying to open the door with a bad hinge.

As far as fixing it, I put a band-aid on it. I did the same on my rear bumper when the red Miata hit me at about 6 min in.

This was my 3rd ever race. Welcome to W2W

TYVM thats what I was looking for.
Question: You know the rear crossing "X" support members that go through the rear wall and attach to the rear strut towers? Can those be mandrel bent to follow the roof line and go down in parcel shelf instead?
I didn't read anywhere in the NASA or SCCA spec book that said they HAD to cross or whatever. I know, the more tubing you have the more wieght you add but I dont think an extra 3 or 4 feet of tubing in the rear is going to be that bad considering the all the balast that gets thrown out prepping the car.

I ask this cuz I want to add the roll cage sooner then later but I still need to DD this car and need it functional for at least a year. I hate sitting on parts in the garage as I collect over time. I know somethings you don't want to wear out in DDs but a cage isn't going to wear out. It's assinine I know but work with me here. If its THAT much of a risk then I understand, but "Just Cuz Thats the way we do it" doesnt work for me.

                      TIA!

Read the cage rules again!! NASA has a pretty generic set of rules(pretty much stolen from SCCA) for the cage. One of those rules is that the rear bars coming off the main hoop have zero bends, and it also gets into angle.

I have never seen a cage built the way you suggest, not because that is the way everyone does it, but because that is the rules!!!

My cage like most everyone else's is attached to the floor of the trunk right above the rear springs.

                            ^ There you go.

I suggest you find a good cage builder near you that has done an E30 cage before. If you search Roll Cages at www.spece30.com.com you will find the roll cage resource thread that will get into cage builders around the country. My cage is a pre-bent weld in kit from EGR(Evil Genius Racing) Don't skimp on your cage or any other safety gear. I originally had a local guy build my cage on the cheap only to have to cut it out and start over. If you have more questions PM me here, or at BF.c. I built my car myself so I have done most everything twice.
