Ebay Roll Cage???

I really doubt that is an actual pick of the E30 cage. Who knows what the design of the e30 one really looks like. They say that they make anything...

If you go to there site, they have pictures of their cages. They are a drag racing cage company. They seem to be just like Autopower, generic designs with specific dimensions for each car. So all of their cages will likely look the same, just made to fit each car.

It could very well be a good drag cage, I know nothing about the design of them.

Even if it installs nice and everything is a perfect fit, it's still junk unless you want a drag racing cage. I would run no cage before using that thing on the track. I've heard too many horror stories of bending unsupported bars into the cockpit in an impact, doing more harm then good. It has nothing to do with the fitment and price, and everything to do with the fact that structurally, it's as strong as a pencil. You might as well wrap yourself in barbed wire and roll down a hill.

Not to mention, what classes actually allow a 10 point cage like this? And out of those, which ones don't require foot protection, a main diagonal, etc...

And if you aren't racing, why are you getting a cage for your e30?

that cage looks seriously dangerous, i would not install that if they paid me..

ERW tubing - that is a no-no with all road racing groups.

For $200 more they will use DOM tubing.

I was looking at this as an option for my car as well but would like to hear from someone who has actually purchased a kit.

I'm no expert in cage design, but that thing doesn't have any of the qualities of a good road racing cage. It doesn't have a dash bar, no foot protection, a single angled door bar (wtf?), no diagonal on the main hoop, no rear diagonal, etc... And there's two relatively useless bars that add 2 points near the main hoop, I assume in place of the main hoop diagonal?

I guess it might be OK for drag racing?

Why do you want a 10 point cage anyway?

I mean if you are thinking about it, NOT having to measure and cut, and bend and make sure the angles are right, and cut some more, and Whoops I cut too much so you cut it again...

Damn it! I cut it three times and it is still too short.

For an extra 100 bux over material costs, might be worth it, I dunno.

Just learn how to weld.

yeah that's true i know a few welders that would hook me up i am just sketched out about the tubing and how they have no real pics of the roll cage installed in a car.

I don't trust my skills (or lack thereof) with a welder, so it makes a big difference to me whether I buy a sketchy ebay kit or drive my car to a legitimate and well regarded roll cage fabricator here in town. Safety's one of those things you don't skimp on.

If you can weld your own, and the tubing material is the proper size and type for your application.....then maybe a kit like this makes sense.
