alot of slammed VW guys do this to take the bumper off easily and quickly for when they break and need to call a tow truck.Leave a comment:

I've been thinking about doing something similar to my dd, the plastic bumpers are such a hassle to take off. It wouldn't be very safe though i guess:( BTW that front end looks sooo business! I like it!Leave a comment:

Get rid of the bumper shocks while you're at it. They serve no purpose without the bumper cores and they weigh quite a bit. What does your car weigh? I had my 318is down to 2375 with a full interior and a full tank of gas. ;)Leave a comment:

the weight savings is pretty hefty ... since the fiberglass support was taken out and the metal brackets.... i didnt weigh it but i would say its about 40lbs front and back... all i did to mount the pin is weld on a nut to the metal support that goes into the frame put the pin in and lock it down with another nut... put grease on the end to mark the spot on the bumper... drill and pin... i zip tied the front lights in for home to street transportation.Last edited by p0cket penguins; 07-01-2009, 07:01 AM.Leave a comment:

Ahh, ok. With our fibreglass bumper covers there is no provision to mount using the stock sliders.Leave a comment:

possibly the best method ever to check for strength :)
Can you take a pic for us of what your setup looks like with the bumper off, how the pin is held together?
What do you think the weight savings was? I've been planning this for my track rat for a while nowLeave a comment:

mine just slide right in the OEM tracks that hold the bumpers in from factory.... i gave it a couple kicks and a hockey check and they didnt seem to move at all.Leave a comment:
