This is the interior of my 2100lbs E30

The trank is completelly empty with only a 15lbs battery.
The engine bay hosts a M20 engine and a strut tower bar.
    The wheels are lightweight 15x7.5

I am pretty sure that with a 4cyl engine and no cage the car would weight a little lower than 2000lbs so you get the idea of what must be done to get to 2000lbs with no fiberglass parts :)

i have a friend with a 84 318 with a 5lug conversion everything gone on the inside i mean everything accept drivers seat. and he weighted at a truck stop at 2250 (when my race car weighed in at 2650 which is a bit heavy im normally around 2610-2620) he is about 250 so that puts him real close to that 2000 lbs car you were hoping for with out going lex or cf body

Still quite a bit shy of 2000lbs.

Yep. My fully loaded '85 323i was ~2620 lbs. iirc. That's with all of the electric options, leather, and added US DOT safety ballast (ie. door bars and bumper reinforcements).

Those of you who really want a lightweight e30 should seriously consider early Euro e30s. In stock trim, they weight 2400lbs...

If the 85 lbs is correct I figured there is at least another 15 lbs in skinning the hood/trunk and leaxaning the sunroof. We shall see............
wow, 85lbs is alot for just the rear doors, i might have to try that!

I removed alot from my track car, and i'm hopping for 2200-2300lbs. 2000lbs would be crazy light and crazy money!

Do you want a light track car that handles well? Drop the few big items off your car that you don't need, and spend your time, money, and effort on the events themselves.

1st: Acid bath the whole shell... Break out the plasma cutter, tig & flair punch.

2nd: The devil is in the details (as in gram here, a gram there).
