Anyone use a weld on steering wheel QR?

Has anyone used one of these before. I have been looking at the cheap ones on ebay for like $20.

I have a e30 that is strictly for autoX and the track and I thought this would be a good addition.

    Anyone have any experience?

Unless you have a cage to climb over or a seat with head restraints there really isn't a need for a removable steering wheel.

If that is indeed the case then I have heard that the hex ones like you have linked to have a decent amount of slop in them, same with the splined ones. I am using a NRG one, yeah they are kind of a ricer shop but the ball bearing design is tight and only allows the wheel to go on in one orientation.

A quick release isn't a good place to go cheap. The wheel may not fit tight and the cheap ones tend to be hard to get on or off. I really like the Snap Off Race QR. See http://flyingbrickperformance.com/ca...ex&cPath=54_56
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

That's a good price for the race version. I'd go with the street version.. maybe they can get it too.

Canadian company, excellent product. I would have one if I didn't get a minty Mtech II wheel. :o

I have an NRG one and it's sweet!

I had to machine down my momo adapter hub tho, because between the two things it was like 6" tall.

Its a pin and a spring, you don't need a $200 dollar one, however iirc there isn't going to be a good way to weld this to the stock steering shaft.

We used a heim joint drop link and 3/4 DOM tubing welded to the stock steering shaft.

We have one from a roundy round shop in the race car... no complaints.
