Thanks Danny. I'll make sure to keep that in mind as I go through my folder of "shit I learned about myself from other people on the internet." -
maybe, maybe not. Too many variables to quantify that one, but the key to abs is repeatability. You won't be able to replicate its results time and time again with anywhere near the precision of the abs computer and pump. It's very nice to not have to concentrate hard on threshold and compression braking and just jam the pedal down when the need arises.Leave a comment:

ABS does increase your braking distance though.... If you practice enough and get really good pushing the car just to the brink, you can brake better without it.... Unless I'm completely wrong.Leave a comment:

I wouldn't take abs out if I were you, since you physically cannot out brake it. There's no point learning to brake without it either, as you won't be buying a car without it anytime soon. I say just fix it and be happy....it doesn't slow you down unless you're a professional driver. Remember, F1 doesn't use abs because they had to ban it to slow them down. Same for any racing series that bans it....it's not because it slows the cars down.Leave a comment:

Well, I knew down the road I wanted to take the ABS out anyway and learn to brake without it... However, yesterday was the first time the car has seen an event, it was the shakedown for the car.... SO I'm wondering if it's a tad early to remove the ABS and learn the braking, or what....
And thanks Buddy, I'll definitely keep that in mind.... I didn't move my car at all today until like 5:30, so I noticed the light then.... I'll try to figure out specifically what's going and and go from there. But thank you.... Since I was thinking about removing it down the road, I'm wondering if it's too early to remove now.Leave a comment:

Learn threshold braking or find a good used one?
Electronics beat us everytime. If you want I'll send u the one from my bronzit for only the cost of shipping. I think the pump is good it was just fucked sensorsLeave a comment:

I'm happy in DSP, SM is full of the trailer queens.... Plus the guy in our region putting down 1000 pt runs drives an Evo in SM.
What is you guys' input on driving without ABS? Apparently after yesterday, my pump is taking a dump.... Started the car today and the light was on, wasn't on yesterday.Leave a comment:

Yeah, your best bet for affordable competition is generally DSP. This completely depends on region, of course, and assumes you have decent car quantity in each class. DSP is usually the home for lightly modded e30's and e36's (non-M's).Leave a comment:

^Really? Stock basically allows shocks, R-Comps, front sway. Not really a whole lot you can do. Guys run outrageous expensive shocks with super stiff compression damping to make up for having to use stock springs.
24v swap puts you in Street Modified. Land of 500hp Vette's, custom geared EVO's and STi's, and cars that can break 75 in 2nd gear on fast courses.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I got to talking to a friend of mine who told me he's like an SCCA ref and Nasa Ref or something, I mentioned swap and he said no. I'm still reading through though, it's amazing what will fly in "stock" class lol.Leave a comment:

The SCCA rules for solo are very easy and straightforward. Spend a few hours reading it, and you likely won't have any more questions, and you won't have to worry about wrong second-hand info.
You won't be anywhere near DSP with a 24v motor, FYI.Leave a comment:

If that's accurate, then it answered one of my biggest questions..... Motor :) I know doing an s50 would probably bump me, but maybe an m50 w/ s50 cams or something like that would fly. I'll look into it further.Leave a comment:

It would be really nice if there was a thread already saying, "You wanna run your e30 in DSP? This is what you can and can't do."Leave a comment:
