Adding on to a chromoly roll bar

For those of you that have experience building cages.
I'm slowly building my car up to run in BMW cca club races in the prepared catagory.

I have the chance to buy a 4 pt roll bar that is made out of Chromoly.
Should I want to continue and turn it in to a proper 6 pt cage, do I have to continue in Chromoly or can one use the appropriate DOM tubing?

I ask beacuse entire Chromoly cages can be freakishly expensive. I'm not super concerned about the extra weight that it will add up top moreso about mixing the two metal types. (Is it even legal?)

    Any insight is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Andre

I don't think it's legal per CCA rules. Frankly, I have no real cage fabrication experience.

You might want to try over on s14.net, you might get some bites there.
