^Damn, I forgot about that thread and purchased the AKG ones. They do feel like cheap plastic. I'll return them and look for the powerflex, thanks. Think I could press them in with my hands of steel or should I keep the AKG tool I bought?

AKG Bushings are awful, threw mine away and installed Suspension Energy ones from BMPDesign. Had nothing but great experience with IE ones, but Korman (local to me) had red ones in stock.

What was so "awful" about them that you couldn't tell us in this post?

Can't wait 'til I replace all my bushings. Just waiting on a 3.73 lsd, then I'll report how the AKGs feel/sound after they go in :)

As I stated above, I have AKG TABs on the car and I also have their rear subframe bushings as well. I went with the "soft" ones which are still quite firm. I have a DD so ride quality isn't so much of an issue with this car. I did all the work myself and lubed the shit out of the bushings with Sil-Glyde from NAPA and they haven't made a single squeak - even on the god-awful Cleveland roads.

Any bushing will squeak if not lubbed. IE, POWERFLEX or AKG.

Sorry to thread jack, but I might as well ask here real quick. I'm about to re-do all my suspension bushings (not by myself, unfortunately it sounds like a nightmare so I'm handing it over to a shop and having the IE rear camber/toe kits welded on at the same time) and I was wondering what brand would be the best compromise between squeking/performance. I understand that I'll have to bear with squeking no matter what, but I was wondering if there were certain ones that might be a little quieter than others but still retain their quality? For instance, can someone comment on whether the AKG's are quiter than the IE's or not? Also how's powerflex? It seems like powerflex is the most popular choice among all the hardcore track guys, so they probably are not considering noisiness when they vouch for them.

This e30 is going to be my DD and weekend track/autox car so I definitely want to go urethane, but I don't want to lose all the comfort. Thanks for any advice. Money is not that big of an issue, but I'm hoping a complete set of bushings for the rear won't run more than around $400 (not including those camber kits). I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for," so I don't mind paying a little more for something that's worth it.

i've been on IE subframe and trailing arm bushings for 2 or 3 years now, no issues. They seem pretty great actually, about the only issue I can think of is they were giving me a little squeak, fixed it with a shot of PB blaster. I remember them being a bit of a bitch to install, but really nothing compared to stock.
Next time I might try AKG based on price/reputation just to check them out.. but really I've got no complaints. IE motor+trans mounts holding up great to turbo+auto-x abuse as well.

FWIW I had Powerflex on my last E30 and they showed no signs of binding. The TA moved smoothly through its range of motion. I used Mobil1 synthetic grease in place of the stuff Powerflex supplied and greased liberally. No issues in the time I owned the car.

You must have gotten a good batch. I had a set fall apart after 2 yrs of use.

I had a bad batch of S14 motor mounts. Broke on the first track weekend. IE replaced them within two weeks, and the second set is still together after 3 seasons. In between the bad and the good set, I used a urethane mount from my 2002 with a thick alumiun spacer.

Anyway, I purchased iflytii's bushings and will see how the do.

Not a whole lot to add - but - I do have AKG TABs on my car. Very easy to install! They have seen 4 track days so far and I have no complaints.
