Yeah, it took me until I turned 25 to actually drive on a track. Went to Spain and my buddy's 25th bday present was to let me romp on his Mini on the Circuit de Catalunya. Shit was awesome--we were not prepared at all and the car wasn't either, he had heavy wheels and shitty touring tires which we pretty much finished off, stock brakes which boiled over and stock suspension, but it did have a worked over cyl head, full exhaust and about 230whp. The trans in the european Mini S is awesome--never driven anything with closer ratios, from third gear on shifting at 7 grand it never dropped below 6.
Anyway a few pics and a video of my first lap. The car was actually a bit overpowered with an open diff so I had to be easy on the throttle and the brakes were cooked so I had to brake earlier and earlier. My buddy was a great sport about it despite me pushing the car harder than he did. You can hear him crack up in the video at about 2 minutes when we're sliding into a chicane :p (and you really can't hear shit else but SC whine and abundant wind noise)
I figure nobody really gives a hoot, but I had an absolute blast and can't wait until I feel the E30's in track driving shape. Anyway onto the video and pictures in case I'm wrong.
It's actually in 720p too but he liked filming the dashboard and the sound is atrocious, nothing I could do about that.
