Our race car, we have a CF skin, hood and trunk, fg skin bumpers and front valance, doors are skinned only have hinges, dash is gutted and most of the foam removed, lexan all around, tubular control arms (more for adjustment but they are MUCH lighter than the stock arms, same goes for the tie rod, fuel cell... etc etc.

Next to come are making the steel widebody fenders out of fiberglass and cutting/swapping them out, should save some weight.

That thing is a beast SA.. Got any current weight #ers?
Anyone know what the ebrake assembly weighs?
For NASA TT I can run Lexan for the rear window and rear 1/4 windows. :)

I don't usually run the AZ tracks as I'm from California, which I track pretty much exclusively with SpeedVentures, I ran one event with PAS last year at east track, but I want to run GTS1 class for NASA(which they have in Cali but not here... go figure...)

Figure out what PT class you're in and run w. AZ that way.. :)

I need some taller gearing and then I'd love to get out to SoCal to run BW, Willow, etc.

Well whats your top speed in 5th gear, I can tell you pretty easy if your geared enough for it haha... Buttonwillow you wont see any higher than 120mph(thats how fast I'm going in a 2010 vette grandsport) Big willow you can see 130-140 if you can get traction coming out of turn 9. Cal speedway is probably the fastest of all the tracks I've been to, on the oval you can see speeds of 150+ before going into turn 1..

With the E36 trans and the 4.10 rear it only goes 110mph, haha
I've got a 3.73 waiting to go in but it might not be enough. Honestly I'm thinking of going back to the E30 trans w. the 4.10 and getting 3 TT points back to use elsewhere since modifying the trans ratio's costs you +3
Our fastest top speed track is Firebird main since it uses the drag strip.. 5/8th of a mile! :p

Haha, ya im running 4.10's in my car. Just put the 3.73 in, that should help a lot, less shifting is nicer on track.

None yet, as the wiring and motor aren't in the car at present.

Also, we removed the ebrake assembly, and are running e46 M3 rear discs and callipers (sure they add a little weight on the disc, but convinced they are lighter than a stock e30 setup).

The front there is also billet multi pison callipers which save over stock callipers (AP 5000+) but the discs are quite heavy 2 piece 330x28mm.

Wait...AMP is back open?! It's the one PHX track I never got a chance to drive. Good thing I'm moving back West.

Anyways, on your weight thing...I'd recommend getting a good set of scales and trying to equalize your F/R weight removal. Don't go too nuts on the easy stuff like scraping your floors clean of sound deadening or removing the trunk tar - that weight's mounted in the best possible location (low) and you can easily get the car to 2,500 without it.

I would, however, swiss cheese/cut up anything in front of or behind the F/R wheels. For a TT car, there's really no good reason for anything to exist before the front wheels or after the rears.

And good for you keeping it a TT car. It's fun to just do whatever you want with a looser rule set. And the guys over at MOTOIQ seem to be working on a tuner/modified car W2W series that will mirror the ruleset of TT.

I'd either go back to the E30 and save the 3 pts. on trans. or look for a cheap 6-speed that will allow you to go faster. Top speed should be pretty close, right - 130-140 mpg @ FIR?

I really need to get my 318is on some scales and get a good reading on how heavy my car is...

just take as much weight as you can out of the car, weigh the car, and if its underweight just add weight where your roll center is at, any weight you can move, fuel cell, battery, etc get it as close to the roll center as possible, your car will handle better if you do this

When people ask you what car you drive and you say a BMW and they get all excited until they see it...

Yeah, AMP is opening back up. I've been helping NASA-AZ w. the sound testing they need to do to make sure they can pass the track limits. Right now it's 92db's/car @ 50ft from the edge of the track on the longest straight. 99db's for track meter total, anything over that it's like a $6k fine each time! I've ran it twice for free in the last month! haha

AS for my car, I'll probably be going back to the G260 trans and keep the E30M3 4.10 in the car. Works good.. :) Till then I won't be running FIR Main. haha

I need to get the remainder of my parts car stripped and the chassis gone and I'll move Goldie in and start doing all this fun weight savings work. Also the E36 rack, intake tweak, rear subframe bushings, and an alignment!!

Bushings rock on these cars - you'll be very happy when that's done. Are you doing a weld-on alignment kit? Another relatively cheap mod I'd recommend while you're in there.

So excited AMP is opening back up. I'll have to make a trip out there for that one.
