One last AutoX -- Don't put that car away yet!

    Ladies and Gents,

It's short notice for sure, but there is one last AutoX available to close out the season. It's a benefit actually. The host site is on the grounds of Advanced Driving & Security, Inc. (www.1adsi.com) in North Kingstown, RI (Quonset Point), and it's a mile-long runway course.

I did a similar event here a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome. While the runs are timed, it's not like an SCCA event. I got so many runs in I literally lost count and have bald tires to prove it.

It's five hours for $75 and it's this Sunday, November 14.

The benefit is for ADSI's office manager, Catie, a single parent, who tragically lost her infant son Tegan.

From ADSI: Proceeds from this event will go to Catie and her family to aid them in this unexpected and heartbreaking time. Although we realize that some of you may not be able to make the event due to the short notice or preparing your cars for winter, we greatly appreciate your help and contributions of any size.

This event will be held Sunday, November 14, 2010. The day will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which will be an open track day on the airstrip. Price per person will be discounted to $75, due to it being the last day of the season and in hopes of a strong turnout in memory of Tegan.

Please use this link to download the forms needed to register (if unable to print, all forms will be available on race day): http://1adsi.com/high_perform/course...s/open_day.php

Send checks to the care of Anthony Ricci or ADSI, cash and check also accepted the day of class.

We look forward to seeing you, Thank You!

It is short notice definitely, but it's a great event for a solid cause. Hope to see you out there.

    Kris

This looks like a blast. Is the event limited to a certain number of cars or can I just show up Sunday with a check and registration forms? Do you know if they allow ride-alongs?

    Thanks.

Yup, you can just show up day of, or do the online registration. They'll have all the forms and waivers and the like at the office. I don't think there's a limit to the number of cars either.

I am not sure about ride-alongs. Call Anthony at (401) 294-1600. Tell him Kris at Slapdash Racing sent you.

      The address is:

      Advanced Driving & Security Inc.
      210 Airport St #10
      North Kingstown, RI 02852

It's housed in the old state airport building way at the end of that main drag at Quonset.

Thanks for the quick reply. Looking at the videos on youtube of recent events the only thing I'm worried about is the condition of the pavement. Seems very rough in spots and my car doesn't exactly have gobs of suspension travel.

Honestly, I didn't even notice it when I was doing it. I have totally stock, 22-year-old suspension and I did it on 10-year-old snow tires. The only problem I had was popping off my i lip when I pegged a cone. But, I just popped it right back on and kept going.

There were two Miatas last time, one was lowered. There was a $120,000 Mercedes, a Lotus Elise, a dropped Roush-prepped Mustang and a host of other cars setup for the street.

I'm not sure what videos you saw, but the course is pretty smooth. If it was security stuff you were looking at, they may have used a different part of the strip. I have an E30 and a '96 Miata with stock suspension and I would bring both if I could.

          Just my two cents...

Actually, you can see my E30 at the end of my run from the bumper cam of a 350Z. As my car crosses in front of the cam, a military jet takes off. It's about 3:20 into this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAor212rMV8

Thats actually the video I saw. The low mounted camera probably makes it look a lot worse than it is.
I'm definitely going to try to make it to this thing.

Yeah, that video looks pretty harsh. Definitely worth the trip...

That does look really bumpy, but I think I'll go anyways. We'll see how the weekend is looking as we get closer.

Bumpy, schmumpy. You'll enjoy the ride. It's smooth compared to Rhode Island road standards. I think I lost my lower intestine on 95 the other day...

                        Hey,

On behalf of ADSI, I just want to thank all you E30ers who made it out to the autox yesterday. The turnout was a lot bigger than expected and it was for a great cause. I hope everyone had a good time.

Thanks again for making the effort.

                        Cheers,

                        Kris

Field is looking rough. We were supposed to support Quonset's air show this year but could not due to ops tempo.

I think they e-mail your top four times, then if you want more, you can request those as well.

I'm not certain, but I overheard Tuesday (tomorrow) was going to be the day.
