I really enjoyed that video. The co-driver sure is enthusiastic too. Don't hear them like that very often.

Thanks. I've enjoyed watching that video several times now. Although I would love to build and run a rally car some day, the high level of content/context in this video reminds me of why I built a road racing car instead... note the lack of tire walls, abundance of trees, and a rope separating you from spectators! My uncle drove a car for Tour de France teams in the 80s/90s and finally quit 'cos of the stress of close calls with bystanders (kids particularly). The much higher funding you would need to maintain a rally car (unless you drive at 6/10ths) is also drilled in by a video like this -- and they don't even come close to wrecking it (although the big jump maybe cost a few $$$$ if anything broke).

Make sure that you watch the jump at 5:23 from all of the camera angles. Pretty insane jump. He nearly kills that guy on the right.

That's Pat Richard and Alan Ockwell. Pat's driving is sometimes a bit "over-enthusiastic". They shattered the right front wheel rim on that landing.

              Check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef_cVkY7t_k
The first car is the Mitsubishi Evo of eventual winners Antoine L'Estage and Nathalie Richard (Pat's sister). They won the "Triple Crown" this year, Canadian Rally Championship, American Rally Championship, and North American Rally Championship.

The third car at 0:11, the other Subaru Canada entry, was driven by British Champion Martin Rowe. The final car at 0:29 is Pat Richard. Note that he was a wee bit more committed over that jump compared to everyone else.

              Here's another view of Pat's jump: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiOhAqRUODg

We hit this jump three times, on Stage A4, A5, and A7. Martin Walter and I, in Martin's Nissan 240SX, caught some big air too on the first pass, but nowhere near as crazy as Pat and Alan. I think this shot was on our second pass.

Martin backed off the throttle this time and the car came down heavy on the nose. See 14:15 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEgpugnGvlw

Our stories, some photos, and all our in-car videos can be seen in this thread: http://www.specialstage.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=42475

Another in-car shot of this jump, from Peter Kocandrle and Alex Kihurani, is at 0:24 of this very cool video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obJUQIxY2OY Matt uses a radio-controlled helicopter for his aerial shots.

Here's another really excellent 2010 Tall Pines video.

The yellow "Open Road" Subaru that appears a couple of times in this video was piloted by Roy Hopkins and Adrienne Hughes. Roy and Adrienne are 3-time overall winners at Targa Newfoundland driving their sponge-painted BMW 2002 nicknamed "Woodstock".
