    235/40-17 or 215/40-17 Tires discussion

What are your guys expirience with these tires sizes on the track.

I opted for 235/40-17 becuase I really wanted to try them out on the track and I love thier grip. Thier OD is 24.4. Some say that the 215/40-17 is a bettter tire to run with a 23.8OD. I have Style 5s on with my e30 m3 suspension. I like to have good meat on my wheels so what are your thoughts?

235/40/17 is a better track tire. More grip, more than makes up for the larger OD.

PM Bishop, he ran 235/40/17 on his E30 on track and loved it.

215/40's are kinda skimpy on style 5's...they were kinda skimpy on my reps that were only 7.5" wide. I ran 235/40 and I loved it. I'm running 205's on my styl 5's right now, only because I wanted that slight stretch, and cause tires were dirt cheap.

I love they way the 235s fit. And the Nittos are great tires

no spacers, rolled fenders, great grip

I guess Ill be sticking with the 235s from now on.

Nice. I run 215/40/17 on my APEX ARC-8's and like em. I may switch to a wider tire when these wear out though. I really like the way the 235's look on your car.

                Here's a frontal as well :p

I really like the 235 look however! ;)

We run 235/45/17 in the front and 255/40/17 in the rear on either Falken Hanabi wheels or Racing Dynamic's 17X7.5 front and 17x9 rear. Currently running Nitto NT01's.

For our car it's a compromise as the car sits a little high but we gain a larger tire patch.

nice set up! I agree with you with the tire footprint being more important, but in this discussion, your flares make this unfair! j/k Car looks good btw

235/40 front 245/35 rear. I will be going to 235/40 front and 245/40 rear this year as the 245/35's are gone forever.

Looks like I'm late to the party... 235s are a yes... On track they make your head melt, yes. Yes.
