Anyone running pillow ball front top mounts?

I'm looking at a set of D2 mounts, fully adjustable.
What are your caster/camber settings for track?
Different settings for autox and large tracks?
How much of a difference have you noticed?

    Any info appreciated.

The target alignment numbers are largely driven by the tires used (especially camber). You set the camber to what the tires want to see. For race tires that might be as little as 2.5deg or it could be as much camber as you can get. With stock diameter springs the springs will hit the shock tower at around 3.5deg. Coil overs all for more camber.

With increased camber set front toe to zero to avoid scrubbing of the tires and increased wear. At the expense of increased wear you can set a bit of toe out 1/16"-1/8" for crisper turn in.

Caster mostly affects high speed stability. As much as you can get is usually a good idea. Offset control arm bushings are a big help.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        Sweet, thanks.
So after installation, should I Get the alignment done at a shop with the laser tool thing to factory settings and later modify the angles, or tell them to align it at the shop? (though I might mod it later)

Depends on how precise you can be when you do it yourself. I've done the DIY thing before, but from now on I'll probably have a shop do it. Saves money in tire wear in the long run.

Didn't really realize that people were running pillowball mounts, what is the difference between camber plates?

NEver seen pillow ball mounts in person.

pillowball = spherical bearing, that's all there is to it. Many camber plates have spherical bearings, few spherical bearing (pillowball) only mounts offer adjustable alignment settings. Many race-inspired rear shock mounts have spherical bearings, and are marketed as such/as pillowball, but they don't offer alignment adjustability. Pillowball mounts don't guarantee adjustable camber/caster.

ah, so the vorschlagg are pillowball then, yeah?

                  supposedly stronger?

I left all the technical areas b/c I didn't want to spend money on shit but it's time to get back in here and learn haha

Yes, they are. I am currently running Vorshlag pillowball mounts/camberplates. I don't really know if they are stronger per se, but they are very reliable and are sealed and don't need cleaning. They also offer a very smooth low-friction rotation that allows the suspension to flex without causing binding in the steering under extreme (lowered) conditions that a lot of our cars would see under track and autocross, and for a few people, street use haha.

The Vorschlag mounts are awesome, I wish I had never gotten rid of them. Live and learn.
