Spec e30 and SCCA club racing w/one car?

Hello, I'm new to track driving and I'm interested in building an e30 track car and I would like to get as much track time as possible. Is it possible to build a car that would fit into NASA's spec e30 and an SCCA class like ITS.

I realize that it might not be super competitive as a spec e30 in an IT class but I'm a rook so I don't have my hopes set on winning my first year anyway. My schedule is not very open so I'd like to be able to fit my car in to any races I find that fit my schedule.
    Thanks,
    -durty

You can race a Spec E30 with SCCA, but you will get your head handed to you on a platter. The allowable modifictions for the closest SCCA class give those cars a competitive advantage over a Spec E30. A more credible option is to race the car with BMW CCA Club racing. They allow Spec E30's as guest class, which means that you compete against Spec E30's rather than against KP cars.

Seing that you are in the SE, I'd wager that you can get all the tack time you can stand amoung the NASA SouthEast, MidAtlantic, and MidSouth regions. If you are willing to travel up to 12hours for an event I'd guess on 16-18 events a season.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

So a spec e30 in SCCA would be ITS?

I just want to race Laguna Seca one time, NASA won't go there for some reason.

I'd also like to race at SMMR but I don't know if ANYONE goes there after how badly they've treated racers in the past.

East coast has alot of events and SE30s. You wont need the SCCA.

Between NASA and BMW CCA CR you should have more events than you'd want to run.

I race Both Scca and Nasa in a Spec E30 / ITS

Your Spec E30 can run SCCA ITS with no issues. (you need to have a fuel test port). You will not be a front runner in ITS, but it is good for some seat time. I have 2 ECUs, one with a Chip that I only use for SCCA ITS.

For the guy looking to run Laguna Seca, you can take your Spec e30 and run Chump car there. I did in Feb of this year , it was awesome. Chump car only allows like 35 cars on track at Laguna Seca, and you are so spread out there isn't much wheel to wheel racing, but LOADS of seat time.

There is alot of bad rumors about NASA vs SCCA. I like them both, but it really depends on what region you run with. I have run races in 6 different regions with them both. They are all nice enough and each have their own little quirks. I have to say my current favorite is the Cal Club SCCA region, they are the first club where I felt like a customer and they went out of their way to make sure i had everything I needed and that I was enjoying my days on track.
                  Thanks,

Can be done. Probably stick to NASA where you are. SCCA runs some cool enduros though like the 13hr at VIR.
