    PBOC @ Sebring, Jan. 21-22 - Who's coming?

Anyone ever gone to any of PBOC's events in Florida? In particular, does anyone have any feedback about their Driving Schools? I am looking at one on the weekend of January 21 at Sebring.

EDIT: Planning on going to this - some of you guys want to head to the warmer regions come January, right???

And if I sign up, I might be able to provide some housing for anyone else who might be going. My Vacation house is about an hour's drive from the track.

Hmm, I'll go but towing down there might be just a little expensive. Can I co-drive with your? (Provided you have a track car by then...)

That might work . . . and maybe we could get a few more guys to go along and kick back some Warsteiners and enjoy the (hopefully) warm weather.

Is it the Winterfest event? I went to the November PBOC school at Barber last year and it was okay. If you are a novice I don't know if it would be the best thing because the classrooms and instruction were pretty bad. We had two classrooms that lasted 10 minutes each. Also, on Sun morning it was raining and the first group off which was the instructor group had 3 crashes..... I personally saw the chief instructor go off track twice! They might be better now, but from the standpoint of learning in your first few events they aren't the best from my experience. BUT.... it is one of the few events you can do in the winter so you don't have a lot of choice. IMO NASA and Porsche Club have been the best events I have done. I'd love to go to Sebring but I hear it is like 10 hours from me.....

How many sessions per day did each group do?

I can't really remember for sure but I think it was the typical 4 per day. The track time was good and there were decent drivers to keep the trains to a minimum so that was a plus. I hear that Winterfest is better and like I said there is not much selection in Jan. I think the event that I attended was probably not their greatest event

I am waiting for some details from the guy in charge, but for now, I think I am going to try and plan on making this trip. It'd be great if we could get some other r3v guys there.

alex, it'll be much warmer in Sebring than in Albany, come January!!!!!

That date is for Winterfest 06....should be very interesting... I plan on doing the 6 hour night race and the BMW CCA Club Race.... it is a LARGE turnout... we are talking HUGE.... if you are a novice.... and want track time... be forwarned you will get frustrated quickly due to a lot of novices out on the track.... and a lot of instructors not paying attention to faster cars behind their student... my student was upset at me because I wanted him to let others go by (which I knew were fast)... I said if you let them go by, you will have more room to learn and not be worried by faster guys behind you.... I want to say there was a good 30 people on track... maybe more/maybe less with 30 minute sessions that ran under 30 minutes because race groups were more important...

I instructed this Winterfest and usually PBOC schools are fairly good but there are others out there than are better for students... you want lots of track time? www.chinmotorsports.com or even a sunshinebeemers (CCA) school....(Winterfest is combined PBOC and BMW CCA)

There are people who like PBOC events and others who don't due to their pricing.... instructing = free track time .... but if I was a paying student, Chin Motorsports is honestly your best bet.....

Keep in touch though.... Sebring is my 'home' track... let me know if you guys are heading this way...

On another note: Some Chin schools are only one day events.. I understand if you are making a trip, you might as well sign up for two days..... so Winterfest may be your best bet... I can say that on Sunday; a lot of people leave early to head back home.... but Sat is a orgy fest...

I actually might be going now... I talked to another guy here that I go to events with and he said that he is going for sure. We would have to make a 4 day weekend out of it but it might be a possibility. Sebring is one of those tracks that you HAVE to do at some point in your life.

part of my motivation - as is the cold weather here in January.

I suppose I could drive my iX down to FL on Blizzaks and just run it like that... Won't be much fun though and Blizzaks won't probably like it. Damn you David, get a car already

                            Two weeks away . . .

And a fair amount of work to be done before it is ready to roll.

                            I'm working on it!!!
