    vert. track. suspension.

Narrow is the road to a thread describing suspension setups those of you are running for track days. I'm looking to enter the scene with my vert and I know this is no easy feat.
Here's what I have: '90 325 vert with m3 springs and Billi HDs. e36 m3 rack. I'm ready for the suspension overhaul because my car sways all over the place. I've seen good praise for the GC/Koni setup, but what are some other options? Anyone have success with the H&R Race? How about sway bar options? I'd love to hear some feedback and get some good direction. Many thanks in advance.

You have a vert. It sways because its chassis has the rigidity of a noodle that was cooked for three hours. Nothing you can do, short of welding a roof onto it AND a full cage, will solve that inherent flaw.

The simple solution is to buy a coupe E30 for a track car and leave the vert as a nice daily. You will ruin it for normal use by turning it into a track car, and it won't handle much, if any, better. Plus, a vert is incredibly unsafe on track: most places I know of won't allow them due to the total lack of rollover protection.

The not-so-simple solution is to buy a good coilover kit (GC, TCK, KW, AST) or the SpecE30 Bilstein Sport/H&R Race/ST Techniques sway bar kit.

But really, search. This has been covered so many times....search "cabrio suspension"

If you are dead-set on running the 'vert on a track, first step is to put a roll bar in.

check with local track organizations regarding running a vert that does not have an oe rollbar. that will better guide you into what to spend money on next.

Good stuff everyone. I was afraid this would be the feedback I would receive. I especially love this quote: "It sways because its chassis has the rigidity of a noodle that was cooked for three hours." LOL.

I'm not really looking to compete but rather to just run in the open track days at the local raceway. I would possibly run some open Autocross days, but never really to compete.

I'll do some research to find what the local guidelines are, but I'm pretty sure a roll bar is within scope. I'll probably go DOM tubing.

I really do appreciate the feedback with this.

contact companies like autopower, kirky, hard dog, etc... they might be able to come up with a viable solution if you come to dead ends. just do a google image search "e30 vert rollbar" some interesting finds
