    Track Day Droid App?

I'm looking for feedback on any apps used for tracking lap times, # laps, etc. I have a Droid phone (Galaxy S2). The first test will be a Chumpcar race in two weeks.

you need an external GPS receiver for it to work well, in my experience.

I have it on my HTC Sensation, and it was far from accurate when I tried it just using the phone's GPS receiver.

Just picked up a QStarz receiver and will be using it next weekend. A local guy swears by his setup with that receiver. It is also highly recommended on the Trackmaster website.

        +1

I have used it at a couple of tracks already (with good accuracy compared to timing & scoring) and plan on using it again this weekend at Road Atlanta.

here is Trackmaster data (using the dirt cheapest Android phone Virgin sells) overlayed using RaceRender.. Works well enough for me!

Maybe we should start a list so we can add each other.

I remember your car at Nelson. I have the flat black e24 chump car, formerly Shameless Sellouts. Now re-tooled as Dark Shark Racing. Just for the record, e24's should never be used in a race longer than 12 hours.

LOL. You guys had a nice looking car. We had a lot of items reach the end of their useful life as well... And still haven't figured out how to make a few random parts last long enough to finish a 7 hour... Nelson's was a fun race, what races are you planning on this year? If you are running MIS in August, I am thinking about running the wifilapper in conjunction with my full data system and will have a router setup.

I am also working on becoming a supplier for the Qstarz GPS unit, along with a IOIO setup so that I can sell them as a package deal - hoping to have some in stock by the end of the month or at the latest mid-July.

We're running at GMP (Gateway Motorsports Park) on 6/30. Not sure after that.

bumpin' for a shameless plug. And a question.

Has anyone compared Harry's lap timer, trackaroo and wifilapper apps? I'm curious to see what people like the most / least about each one and which one they find work best.

Shameless plug time - Schaut Speed Motorsports has full range of Qstarz GPS products in stock now, including a slew of the BT-Q818XT Bluetooth 10 Hz Gps receiver that is a great pairing to any of the already listed track apps.

I had trackmaster on my droidx and it has been much easier to use than harry's lap timer (tried only once).

I love the trackmaster trackaroo, and the new version finally can take video while doing the logging as well. That one was feature that was missing for a while.

Of course these are best used with dedicated BT gps.

Petrel data! It's still in Beta Testing, but a million times better than Trackaroo's stuff.

I don't actually see anywhere to download the application? unless you need to buy the $200 package, in which case, lol, no.
