    Drive-Gear Transmissions

    http://www.drive-gear.com/

Is anyone here using one of their transmissions? Anyone have input? They aren't cheap, but mine is showing some signs of fatigue and I'd like to upgrade "while-I'm-in-there."

They seem to do a lot of work for the spec e30 guys, which is a good sign of the quality of work.

Many of the SPEC-E30 guys swear by them. There are a few PRO3 guys running them as well. My buddy just put one into his PRO3 car over the weekend, we are going to see how it does this weekend at the race at ORP.

I met these guys at a swap meet last year, they were very cool to talk with and very knowledgeable. They had a cut-away g260 that they had built on display, if the workmanship that went into the display is any sign of the quality of their work I would recommend them. I believe one of them is a member here but I can't remember his name.

Ive been running one in an autocross car for about two seasons now with no issue. shifts great, no leaks. Was amazingly clean. I did and still hear a little input shaft noise while at idle in neutral but it has not gotten any worse.

I'll have to look into this and see what they have to offer.

They're $950 plus core and shipping. I believe they only offer rebuilds to OE spec, but I'm not sure.

I can supply completed Getrag transmissions fully re-Built with OS Giken Close ratio gear sets if somebody is looking for a more racing option than stock internals.

E30 M DTM Group A spec ratios for synchromesh with close ratio OS Giken original gear set. 1st gear is = short 2nd and close ratio 3/4/5 (overdrive)
                  OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

                  Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine

Could you be more specific/acurate about the os giken ratios including #'s?...also are the os giken gearsets straight cut?

they are designed for use with OEM synchromesh, so new OEM syncros and bearings would be part of the rebuild.

                        gear ratios:

                        1st: 2.615
                        2nd: 1.721
                        3rd: 1.253
                        4th: 1.0
                        5th: .857

final drive set can also be built with either OSG superlok standard 1.5 35/55 ramps or anything custom; 2 way ramps are also avail as well as TCD oiling center sections. Racing gears are also avail to match from BMW motorsports if there is something specific in mind.

These are quite popular with the GTS crowd.

Waganstyle, whats your price for an OE rebuild? I don't think I have any need to change the ratios.
