    Eastern Washington BMW AutoX

Thought I'd post some footage from last autocross. I ran in Sacramento SCCA events during my high school days and have been running my car in Spokane, WA for the last 4 years while in college.

Here is a video from the last autocross.

The club I race with is pretty small but a lot of really good guys and some quick cars. Nothing like SCCA San Francisco region, but a lot of fun. Northwest BMW Club is the local BMW enthusiast scene and we have a pretty good showing at all of the Autosports Northwest races.

Some pictures of the progression of my car.

My car started life as my Grandma's four door automatic faded brilliantrot e30 and over the last 6 years I've made it progressively more fun. First modifications done were a cheap ebay chip, borla catback, and a stainless steel header in '07. Then bought some used tokico blue struts, ie3 springs, maxi fixed camber plates, cross drilled rotors, and suspension techniques sway bars and had them installed in '08. Started autocrossing on Dunlop Sport A2's for a year or two before switching to Falken RT615s on bottlecaps. I also got tired of burning by butt on black plastic seats and sliding around when turning, so I put in some inexpensive ebay racing seats and a smaller diameter steering wheel to make it feel like a quicker ratio. It was fun and did a few track days and tons of autocrossing, but needed to swap in a manual. Last year I found a good deal on a manual swap, had it installed and absolutely love my car. It still has the 4.10lsd in it from when it was an automatic, so it feels fast... even though it isn't. Before a trackday at Laguna last year, my Falkens were toast and I needed to get some replacements so I decided to put the Dunlops back on the bottlecaps and bought a set of TRMotorsports C1s and with some Hankook RS3s mounted. They were a blast and a huge upgrade over the Falkens and a great tire for street tire classes. After a season of autocrossing and a trackday at laguna seca, the RS3s were gone and I needed new tires. Decided to go with a cheap set of new Hoosier R6s and I enjoyed them last autocross. Now I'm looking for a strut brace, used Hoosier A6s, and maybe some cheap 16 or 17 inch rims for daily driving. Anyways, I know that was terribly written but I thought I'd give some background. I look forward to becoming an active member on r3v.

I'm going to another smaller private school in Spokane called Whitworth. It's tiny and most of the time I wish I were somewhere else.

It's definitely a lot of fun! A lifetime project and a car that I will never sell. I hope it stays with me forever.

Yeah they've been trying to get creative with course design. It's a skinny and cruddy surfaced runway with lots of things to avoid. It has made me a lot better at slaloming thought, that's for sure!

Our local AutoX venue has the same problems, old airport runways that are coming apart.

                Consider us friends! :D

You are in a pretty good location for autocross! You have Autosports Northwest beyond North Spokane and Sand and Sage Sports Car club at Tri-Cities Raceway. You're also a little closer to the bigger SCCA events on the west side.

                ^Next event is August 24/25

Welcome to the Sand and Sage Sports Car Club based out of South East Washington. We host autocross events at the Tri-Cities Raceway | Red Mountain Event Center in Richland, WA.

^Next event with SSSCC is August 18/19

Hope to see you out there sometime!

Very nice! Be careful with them R-comps, they can be very addicting lol.

Nice car sir! What do you think of the course layout? Definitely much different from any courses I've run with SCCA. But I like the high speed and the slaloming/walloming/turnaround/chicago-box set ups they do almost every weekend.

                        I love the R-comps... and I was on rock hard used 225 wide R6's off a PRO3 car. I can't imagine the grip with 275 wide A6's.

Haha yup. I started out this summer with old.hard.no tread left 205 A6's, now on a fresh set of 225 Hankook Z214 C71's. I thought I had a lot of grip before, but now it's just immense! My first 2 runs on the new tires I literally didn't know what to do with all the grip, the car just stuck the harder I pushed it.
