Finally getting through some of the video from my 2012 ChumpCar season. As I (or my other video guy) gets stuff done, I'll post up the links to Youtube up here.
The car:
1987 325is 2-door. Built from a '87 es. 2.5L engine, 3.73 LSD. Stock manifolds, 2-1 to magnaflo 4" muffler and straight pipe out the pass side. 15x7 wheels, 205/50R15 Dunlop Star Specs. Cobalt Friciton XR2/XR4 brake pads. 2500 lbs with driver and full tank.
First up - the end of the fall Road America event. Recovering from some issues (had to replace a hub and had some electrical probs), we crawled up to 15th. Here I am trying to extend the tank out to make a full 2 hours so we don't lose any spots in the pits. No easy task, and why the start of the vid I'm going so damn slow. I had no fuel and pretty much no front brake pad material left. 1st driver that day was racing like a sprint race and used up too much of the brake pads, I was down to backing plate at about an hour into my stint, which created some sketchy reactions from the car under hard braking.... The black e30 that makes an appearance at the end is the 16th place car. I had constant radio contact on how far back he was so I could figure out my min lap times needed. The last lap was a hail marry hoping the brakes and fuel would last just long enough to make the checkered, in 15th.
Enjoy.
