So I'm resurrecting this thread a bit, but this past weekend one of our customers mailed me a copy of an article from Victory Lane magazine about the event I drove and I was mentioned in it! It isn't a big part of it or anything but I thought it was pretty cool to make it into a national magazine! I'm attaching a scan of the article if you're interested.

    :D

Small update and another question: using my very unscientific timing method (stopwatch with the video playing), it looks like all my clean laps were within a second of each other (~1:32) and I got down into the 1:31's on Sunday. My question is this: If I'm looking inconsistent but the times aren't all that far off, that must mean that I improve in one part of the track and get worse in another, right? I had expected a larger spread so it got me wondering.

Thanks man! It really does sound awesome. When I'm back home (visiting the girl for the weekend) I'll need to take a short video of the sound from the outside. It really barks. And you should want a Lotus Cortina! They rule.

I used to drive a 16v gti with 45mm webers. I miss the sound

Thanks for the compliment! The car was a bit out of place there I think despite fitting the displacement requirement...I think it would have been better suited racing in the over-2-liter displacement group.

Going from memory, the feed line to the tank is above the pump. The car runs a very consistent 60psi when warm. We only manually prime after sitting for a while or after an oil change. Thanks for the interest!

General comment on the car.... awesome. It hauls so much over every other car on that track at the time... it's like they aren't trying!

Technical question about your dry sump setup: what's the height your feed line as they pass through the firewall; is it above the inlet on the pump, level with it or below it?
How often do you manually prime the oil system? Every time or only after it's been sitting for a while?

    :)

Thanks for the input! I agree for sure on the consistency bit, that was my first thought as I was looking back through these videos today. I'm trying to figure out how to upload the next day's race faster (it says like 1400 minutes to upload...) so you can compare and see if anything improved. I believe that I was using more instinct the first one or two days, but by Sunday I was trying to use more concrete points for braking and turn-in to try to narrow things down. I do believe that's my biggest target for improvement in the future though.

Nice! Congrats on the wins. You're fast so I can't say I'm all that surprised.

Just viewing the video, if I were you, at this point I would be trying to improve my consistency in general. You are fast but it seems like you are driving on instinct as much as memory. I see you taking different lines through the same corners, blowing the occasional apex and at least once blowing an entire corner. I would work on laying down entry positioning, braking points and turn-in points and sticking to them until they are almost muscle memory. Get your consistency down and you can push harder safely and experiment more effectively.

You know, that's what I like about having video because I could have sworn I was doing that and I very clearly wasn't. :| Thanks for the tip, I'll have to see if it changed in the later sessions!
