After two seasons of running Hankook iPike snow tires in the dirt, I wanted something more responsive, and better suited to run on our type of dirt and heat. Dedicated Rally tires are overkill for our venues, not to mention $260 a piece for a tall, narrow tire to fit a 14" bottlecap. My solution was a set of new all-season tires in a 195/60/14, and opening up the tire tread blocks with a tire groover.

Tires were $46 a piece, and a $69 tire groover. A full set of tires, for the price of one Rally tire.
We had a test-n-tune yesterday and the tires worked great. Opening the siping on the sidewalls gave great turn-in response. The straight line acceleration in the dirt was perfect. Once in second gear, the tires just grip. Overall the difference in control is major. The tires wallowing in a full lock slide is gone.
Snow tires are for winter.
