hmmm...good idea...I never thought of that

I strongly suggest having a custom welded-in roll bar, and recommend Chris Schimmel in Hillsborough.

And buy the high-density roll cage padding while you're having the cage built -- that way, you can put it in for the drive home from the fabricator's. (And use zip-ties to secure the padding.)

        Roll cage.

There are SCCA/FIA legal bolt in cages you might want to check out. The bars will have more impact cushioning than the B-pillars or the roof panel with the correct padding. As to safety, a rollover is unsafe. You don't get to pick the type of wreck you have.

What about a bolt in roll bar for a cabby? Most, if not all tracks, require convertibles to either be equipped with a hard top or rollbar/cage. I want to do some HPDE and some open track days in my cabby, but it is require i have sometype of roll over device. I have been looking into a bolt in roll bar that just clears the top of the front seats, kind of like the audi/miata rings, only i want a full bar. I do drive my car everyday, and I want to be safe but i have put so much work into my cabby lately, and I can't justify all this work if i never use it. Any help would be great.

You'll need to have one custom made for the cabby. I went down that road many times, and never found one "off the shelf".

PM Syko, he has one in his cabby that was made by a shop in NC, I think.
