The BRZ really is on par with an E30 M3, except it [BRZ] should have better rear suspension geometry for more overall grip and stability.

I don't know why anyone would buy a BRZ. You can't see out of the things. They aren't fast, they don't handle that well, and they are heavy. I have yet to see one beat me in my M3. I'm unimpressed. The E30 is a better car, and will last longer. Buying a BRZ is a waste of money. Take the $, restore your e30 and make it bad ass. It will run circles around a BRZ even with a well tuned stock motor. In the end, the E30 will be worth more anyway (Looking 10 years down the road).

    Will

I'll probably get a BRZ over and E30 if I had the option

Beating an E30 = nothing to write home about. You don't need a turbo kit to make it happen.

    hmmmmmm.

I have an s52 e30 and at the one autocross this year I've run against an FRS I beat it by 2+ seconds. S2k on the other hand, no comment....

No videos but I've witnessed it multiple times on the Tail of the Dragon.

S2000 struggles against a 24v swap car going up the mountain toward NC. Coming back from NC its mainly down hill so its a game of chicken pivoting mainly on driver skill.

what does even half of that get you in a e30? At least a well sorted s52 swap. heaven forbid you go and get an s54 swap e30 along with other goodies for 27k...

I would really like to see a real competition between a swapped e30 and a brz.
lol @ s52 or s54.... i would get a ls1 for that money to be honest, i only got a s52 because low miles and a smoking deal you can not believe. but a e30 with s52 would blow it out of the water! imagine with the ls1... power to weight ratio man.

you also have to think about insurance more expensive... and if you dont buy it in full, theres interest. my buddy just picked up a red manual frs out the door for 26k. i smoked him in auto x, smoked him from 0-60 and from 20-80 and from 60-120... and i have a m50nv .... not impressive to be honest. does drive nice but it aint no e30. my friend does have 255 toyo r1rs which are nice sticky tires and i have the same tire in 225 15. i rather have a e30, its something not to flashy, something you wouldn't expect, over engineered, and classy.

I think the differential in performance/dollar ratio is fairly clear.

I think a track prepped e30 with an m50 and good suspension/tires/brakes would be an even match for a track prepped stock motor BRZ. And ill take an s5x swapped e30 over a BRZ/FRS any day of the week.
