Watkins Glen April 13th-14th

Anyone out there running Watkins with Chumps in two weeks?

We are headed up with our 86 e30 335 - 3.5L

First time on WGI - can't wait.

Running two separate races - 7hrs Sat and then 7hrs on Sun

Looks like no snow just rain..

No costumes for this race...

The car is raceable as of tonight. Suspension and brakes are all back on the car, fuel system is plumbed up, electrics working and safety stuff updated for '13 rules.


A few more clean-up items and some personal touches I'd like to do, but ready to go.


And excited! This is gonna be a blast.

Excellent - always a good feeling to get the car back in one piece.

We just cut out our spare tire well out and welded steel over the hole - lost like 2lbs :)

All we have remaining is to verify all critical nut/bolts are tights and then fix our loose shifter - after that we are ready.. One of our guys just got a new 2500HD Chevy for work so we will be riding in style.. At least we won't break down driving up.

Sweet! I can't wait to go back to WGI to do a few DEs. It must be amazing to actually race there!

That's our Chump at RA last year. Top ten finish there, looking to improve!

We had a very solid weekend. Fuel system worked flawlessly, allowed us to run full 2hours without even a hint of a stumble! (we had 3 stints in the 1:50 - 2 hour range).

Car stayed reliable, and we were able to run consistent laps. Having an entire team that can run within 1 second in lap times helps. Sub 5-min pit stops help too :)

We are definitely down on power compared to a handful of cars out there (Saabs, Volvos, Probes, and um... E30s!!!!!), with lap times about 5-7 seconds off the leaders. (I believe the fastest lap of the weekend went to ChumpFaces E30 at a low 2:18, our fast lap was mid 2:24).

But with good strategy and consistent laps we managed to finish up 3rd on Saturday and 4th on Sunday! Proud of my team!

We only managed 13th and 2x somethingith overall.
