Couple of pics of my track car, still a work in progress. Car is still street-legal, so I can drive to & from (hopefully, anyway!) events.

As she sits now:

I need to pull & flock the dash still. A/C is gone, but I kept the HVAC, so I don't have to worry about fogging the windows on cold/wet days.

Side view:

I ditched the stereo, power mirrors, locks/central locking & power windows, going with a manual setup. More for cleaning up/simplifying wiring than actual weight savings.

DTM-style gauge cluster (very much a work in progress):

This is on hold until mid-April, when I can pick up the rest of the gauges & senders. I'll be using a Stack Clubman tach, with gauges for oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, fuel level volts, and ultimately diff temp (although I haven't started on the diff cooler project yet). There will be 2 warning lights; one for oil pressure, and one for water temp.

Thx, that's the very cheap Don-Jur (sp?) kit with the "manual" applicator. It was really very easy and has held up really well.

did u do that w/ the dash removed?...

i used to have just the tail end of the support bolted to the body but when i got in a wreck it tore the metal in half because the motor and trans shifted...

so i just cut the sheet metal bracket mounts off and kept the center portion where the selector sits and bolted it to the body, also eliminates shifter movement when braking
and accel if you have solid motor/trans mounts

yeah... drilled through, long bolts with half inch spacers i think....

the early sheet metal carrier plate mounts were really weak so i mounted it to the body, also makes it taller which works for me, i think its the 1.9 shift lever, used solid bushings, makes it really notchy, sounds good when slamming gears tho

I'm looking to do the same because the rear bushing of the assembly is complete shit and keeps popping off.

You just bolted it directly to the body?

My E30 is just an HPDE car for now, but seats with Vac floor mounts, custom rollbar and harnesses will go in over the winter. Here is my guage setup:



I used Autometer mechanical gauges as I wanted really accurate readings. The pod is Autometer as well. I also have a oil and water low pressure light setup and a shift light. So far, I have been pleased with the setup. - AB
