So I have had issues with fueling in my s52 car when driven hard for quite a while now, even with a full tank, a new Walbro, and a recent fuel filter. Turns out that my tank is rusted to shit, and had clogged the sock on the pump and killed the fuel filter as well. So, I have a brand new OEM tank, a new sock, and fuel filter, but is there anything else I should do while I'm in there? I have heard of people putting things in the tank to reduce fuel movement, but I'm not sold on that idea. The car sees occasional street use, and most of that is driving to and from events (autox and some HPDE, though I want to start some time trials next year). Thanks.

Replace the rubber hoses at the top. Their is 1 8mm rubber hose on the drivers side top of the tank and a 12idx18od hose(I think this hose may only be on the eta from the fuel pump to the outer pump). Pretty much just replace the rubber hoses. also their are I think 2 rubber hoses about 2 inches long I'd replace that with new rubber hose and if you'd like you can replace the vent hoses on the passenger side.
I'm doinfg this right now aswell and I'm just waiting for the metric 12x18 hose.
Btw sorry that this didn't answer your question about fuel starvation.

Thanks. I have replaced pretty much every rubber fuel hose at some point, and have new very high pressure hose for the 2" in tank section and the short line that goes from the top of the fuel pump assembly to the hard line. Forgot to mention that.88 325is - S52 powered
