325E Shifter moves alot in corners

We just finished our first Lemons race (NHMS) and noticed (in car vid) that our shifter moves all over the place while cornering. I saw this in another e30 in car video too. Anyone know what's causing this??? Possible fixes?

    Thanks

Check your transmission and motor mounts.

My bet would be that the shift rod joint at the back end of the transmission is worn out. The inner section is some kind of plastic and they wear out over time. Get someone under the car while someone else moves the shifter, and you'll probably be able to tell if it's that part. It's a cheap/easy fix if transmission is out of the car. Fiddly but possible if it is in the car. Depending on which transmission & shift linkage you have it is either part number 25-11-7-503-525 or 25-11-7-501-309.

Motor mounts (new/harder) and tranny mounts checked and still tight.

If it's a plate style linkage, that soft link at the end of the shifter (made of rubber) is probably toast. If you are using solid mounts all around, you could replace it with a small bolt and some washers.

Update-Replaced the linkage bushings (made them), and the linkage arm (bearing surfaces worn badly) No more wobbly shifter!
              Thanks for everyones input.

Nice, did you guys have a plate style?

I am just getting ready to rebuild the one in my racecar, and try a little "backyard" engineering that I have seen mentioned elsewhere - which is to take the plate and actually mount it to the transmission tunnel from above.

I've seen this done before and it does work well bolted straight to the tunnel it's feels like the akg setup but for practically free lol

We do have the plate style.
