    Autox // daily rims

Hey guys im looking into getting some new wheels and tires for my e30.

I know I will be getting the replacement for the star specs the zII or star spec 2 or w/e they are called. Ive used star specs on my daily wheels for my STI and for autox and loved them .

So which brings me to question what rim combo isnt to pricey that would work on a mostly stock type setup ( no fender flares or coils yet ) . I was thinking 15x8 I always tend to like the rpf1 setup but havnt really seen an e30 with them that autocrosses.

enkie 92 I like but not sure that would work as an autox or occasional track wheel.

Been looking around just curious what you guys are using.

    Thanks!

The TRM C1 from Tire Rack fits the bill perfectly for the wheel you are talking about. Cheap (but good quality), relatively light, and very commonly used for autoX/track days. They are ~$100/wheel for the 15x8 and fit E30's very well.

^Not mine, just one of the first E30/TRM pics that popped up on Google.

As far as tires go, the widest tire Dunlop offers in a 15" is the 205/50. Doable on a 15x8, but really not ideal, would fit a 15x7/7.5 better. A very popular combo for E30's in the TRM C1's with the 225/45/15 Hankook RS3 (which just released an updated compound).

Also from what I have read, Dunlop has stopped production of the Z2's already. The Z2 'star spec' is already on sale in Japan, and will be released here next year, they are letting current stock sell out first.

I use Apex Arc-8's as my DD and autox wheels. You can fit 215's with no modifications, and I'm running square 235's with rolled fenders.

Another vote for c1s. 205s fit fine but some tires fight with you to get mounted. Usually the track tires run a bit wide so it's not so much of an issue.

Hopefully the new compound is better on the rs3. I have to admit when I compared the star specs to the first run of rs3 I was incredibly unsatisfied compared to the performance of the star specs in all aspects aside from wet autox runs.

            I'll check out the c1s.

Another tire I've been looking at I haven't found to much feed back is the bfg rivals. Under 500 for a set after mail in rebate is always nice

              205/50/15 rivals work great on 15x8 c1's.

Talked with a few local guys that are running them and they're quite happy with their performance especially at El Toro.

Pick something from here with +20-25mm offset, and you're good to go.

That i've found so far, this place seems to have the best selection of 15x7 and 15x8 wheels in the correct offsets.

can't go wrong with the TR C1s. I've been looking at some others though.

I'd stick with 15x8s for the ease of fitment. 16s have crap tire selection. 17s are too big for our unless you're FI/24v swapped. just my opinion, though. Good luck.

I'm running RE-11a in 205/50. I'm sacrificing some contact patch, but the tire is excellent for street use, canyon runs, and the occasional auto-x (have yet to auto-x my e30 though). Best dual purpose tire. If you're looking for all out auto-x street tire competition use, though there's definitely better.

I have dunlops on my S2k. great for the track, but so so for the street (pretty loud). Rivals suck in water, and RS3s suck in water too. all three of these wear faster than RE-11a

BFG Rivals are amazing tires. I run 15x7 DForce LTW5 wheels with 205/50's. I also run 15mm spacers all the way around.

Wow, somehow I haven't seen this before, thanks for posting this! Seriously re-evaluating my wheel choices for this season...

Doesnt a 25mm offset 15x8 wheel, hit the strut with a 225 tire?

I was looking at those choices but the only one I thought I could use was the wideopen

Im curious as well. A local shop around here said 15x8 and a 225 tire square all around would fit well. Im sure soon I will find out.

i think a 3mm spacer will assure clearance of the strut.

I have 15x8 TR C-1s with 225/45 Hankook RS-3s. They are square and don't rub at all. IIRC the the wheels are ET20. First track day will be 4/24.
