Anybody Running SCCA TT with a Swap?

Hey guys. I've been trying to get an answer from SCCA about how to class my car, and I haven't had much luck so far. I figured I'd check on here to see if anyone with a similar build to mine is running Time Trials (or even Club Racing) with SCCA.

I built this car to run GTS3 and TT-A with NASA, but I have moved and SCCA is more prevalent where I live now. They also have some awesome looking hill climb events I'd like to do. My E30 has a supercharged M50, is fully gutted and caged, and has some aero. For SCCA solo the swap alone puts it in XP. I can't seem to figure out what, if any, class the car fits into with SCCA club racing/TT. My best guess so far is SPO.

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

I would go ask that question at grassrootsmotorsports.com

There are a lot of racers there who can help you figure out the lines between the rules and class you correctly.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

I think you might be able to do STU with SCCA - check on doing a classing reclassification based on HP/weight ratio.

You can also check out T1-T3.

You'll have to read through the rules for more details as i'm not familiar with them first hand. it's really just through word of mouth and talking to racers practicing at the track.

Just in case anyone checks back with this thread:

It seems as though my M50 swap with supercharger, combined with my NASA TT-A legal aero puts me in the regional SCCA Time Trials class called Street Unlimited (formerly TT-SM). It seems as though a Club Racing class doesn't exist for a swapped E30 with forced induction, so regional TT is the only option.

You could run SPO or STU, however SU is your preferred class. We run SU in SEDIV and it's one of the highest car count classes short of the miatas, but is also the fastest on avg per car of most of the classes that are closed cockpit cars. Good luck!!!

Sweet, I made the right choice, then. Actually, I just moved to Chattanooga, so I'm a member of the SEDIV now. Glad to know I'll be running in a competitive class with plenty of other drivers....I'm also glad to see in your signature that you won the division in your E30 in 2011! I'm hoping to take the car out to Road Atlanta next weekend. Maybe I'll see you there.

Glad to hear you are in SEDIV! Hope you enjoy it! I am the AL Region TT rep so if you have any questions feel free to ask. SU is a great class and the regulars consist of a nicely prepped E36 M3, LS-swapped 240SX, heavily modified Subaru STi, an old-school turbo Celica, and then the e30 I drive. I think you'll definitely be competitive. I unfortunately won't be racing any this year but I am keeping the e30 and will be back soon enough. If I don't make it to Rd Atl to watch and help out, then I will definitely be at Barber and Talladega Gran Prix later in the year. Hope to meet you soon!
