Who Has Experience With Spec Clutches

My Sachs M20 clutch lasted several years in my S50 track car, but I'm looking to upgrade now that its on its way out. The heavy duty Sachs setup is over $700, so I'm looking into the Spec stage 2 m20 rig.

Whos's got experience with the Spec clutches? Please give me your input good and bad. Thanks.

every car I've turboed uses a spec stage 3 clutch, zero have experienced any clutch problems. Use an OEM throw out bearing and your good. pedal feels stays about the same as OEM maybe a bit stiffer but still softer than the OEM clutch on cars like the wrx/evo etc.

Thanks, a cumbersome clutch pedal was my main concern, other than longevity. how long have you been using yours?

I have four racing seasons on the Spec Stage 3 clutch in my Spec E30. It is a little grabby and stiff, but not so bad that it would be more than an aggravation on the street. When I changed out the transmission a year ago the clutch showed little wear.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I do not recommend SPEC clutches.

Did you see my post in your last thread? It outlines how to use a stiffer oem sachs pressure plate without the exorbitant cost of a sport clutch.

Can you elaborate on why you don't like Spec?

They've been hit or miss on a number of race setups I've been involved with (especially enduro cars). I've seen delaminating friction surfaces, sheared hub pins, and snapped lash springs.

Generally they're ok, but the truth is they've had a much higher failure percentage than the other clutch brands I'm familiar with (sachs, clutchmasters, and clutchnet).
