    EVENT: COMSCC WGI 9-11-2012

    WEATHER: 82 and sunny

    LAP TIME: 2:39.7

    CAR: 1991 318is

    STREETABLE? Yes

    ENGINE: S54 with EBay headers

    DRIVETRAIN: ZF320 and S2.93

CHASSIS: Bone stock, 2625 lbs with full tank of gas and no spare tire

    SUSPENSION: TMS J-stock

    WHEELS/TIRES: 15x7 with 225/45 Hankook R-S3

RICER EXCUSES: I had just finished swapping my car a few weeks prior, and took it up to WGI a couple years ago. My brake bias was a little messed up, as if I braked hard for T1, the car got extremely squirrelly, and the same thing was true at the bus stop. I've since swapped my braking system to a dual MC with balance bar. I also had a bad driveshaft. It didn't actually do anything but it made me nervous when I heard a loud grumbling lifting off the throttle.

I've gotten a lot more track time and have a much better feel for what my car is doing with a roll bar and harnesses.

I won't be able to make it up to WGI with COM this year, sadly. I really really wanted to see how much time I'd gain with the additional experience I have. Maybe if I can find an event later in September I'd make the trek up there.

Did you run an AiM or other timing device? That's the only issue I have with BMWCCA is that generally speaking, they do not allow you to run one. I guess you can run a video camera and retrospectively see your lap times, but honestly, getting an AiM has been my best learning tool, besides seat time and setting my car up right.

I bet I could chop a bunch of time off, because a 2:39 is painfully slow.

That's very impressive being that close to an "I"'s time.

Thank you. The fastest M42 time was a 2:25.xxx, from a team full of BMWCCA guys from Syracuse, so my guess is the B25 cars were a little inexperienced.

Last year's E30 FTD was a 2:19.xxx, IIRC. The rules are much more restrictive for BMWs this year, though, which has slowed things down for us. (That car had front Wilwoods, 225 Rivals, camber plates, and almost assuredly a mostly Spec E30 suspension)

One of our Spec Miata's did a 2:15.9 this summer. You guys are lucky to be anywhere close to this place, what an awesome track!
