    Can annyone recommend...

A shop in the NE (RI,CT,MA) area that has an inventory/showroom of racing seats? I have decided that I will be purchasing this winter and I would really prefer to sit in a few to figure out what I want. I have trouble buying clothing online let alone racing seats haha Also a good recommendation on safety equipment such as a 4 or 6 point bar and harnesses. I was creeping at a recent HPDE but I figured I would ask the R3v community as well.

    Thanks!

HMS in Danvers has a nice selection of seats that you can try out in the showroom. They have belts too.

One other thing you can do is hit up a local autox or track day and see what people there are running. Most people won't mind you sitting in their car to see if you like the seat, everyone knows how hard it is to find a good one that fits properly. That's what I did and it worked very well.

You'll never spend too much money or go overboard on safety. If it's just you driving in the car, you don't need to worry about compromises. Get a seat that fits well and is comfortable. Get a containment style seat, cam-lock harness, and buy some type of head & neck restraint. It's very easy to get very hurt, don't skimp.

Thanks guys! I think I will have to ask around at NHMS this Saturday. I also just purchased a used safety devices 6pt bolt in roll cage.

I have had/used a few different seats over the years. how tall are you? weight/ waist size?

What is the purpose of the car? track day, race, autox, daily driver?

I am 6' 280lbs. I currently use an OMP WRC XL. It is an awesome seat. But, it is wide! even for me, it is wide. On track, I could use a tighter seat like a sparco evo 2 or Evo XL. But since I drive mine to and from work on occasion, I prefer the looser fit seat.

I think my favorite seat of all is the Racetech RT4009W.

I am 5' 10" 210lbs (fatass) 34or36 waist depending on the pants. I sat in some COBRA Suzuka seats the other weekend and I really liked the fit and lateral support. I just picked up a Safety Devices bolt in 6pt the other weekend also. For belts I really like the Schroth Profi setup. I plan on just making my HPDE car safer since I will be breaking into group 1 next year. I am open to suggestions since I don't plan on buying anything until April sometime!

I wonder which Suzuka it was....

I would think the regular one could be a bit narrow for you. They make a wide, GT?version

                  anyhew..its a great seat.

                  HMS for sure check out....

also get to the track on a race/lapping day..sit in a bunch of seats.

Cobra, OMP, Sparco, Recaro etc etc etc....

oh..Schroth rock...but pricey. No need to go w/ them...

on the cheaper end, GForce is very good as well...and much cheaper. Put the saved bucks to a hans, gloves, shoes....pads, etc etc etc
I love sitting down and just driving!

I'm pretty sure it was the Suzuka S. It is now called the Suzuka pro though if you try looking for it. I will look into the Gforce belts. I def need some nice gloves too. I am in all favor of a HANS device. My question is does the helmet have to be hans compatible? or can I modify my current helmet to accept it? I'm not picky with shoes. I jot got PFC08 pads, brass guide bushings and ate calipers this year and it was awesome. I am def going to get some backing plates and ducts if anyone has a good recommendation for those. I've seen a few different designs and I wonder what you guys run.

You can drill your helmet to accept a HANS device.
