I use OE rotors and cool carbon pads, coupled with as lines, rebuilt calipers, and fresh ATE fluid. I have not experienced any brake fade after switching from OE pads.

I have a data point for you and the RX7 calipers. I use Raybestos ST43 compound and they last forever. I can go through a set of HT-10's in a weekend but the ST43's I can do 4+ before I pull them out with a few mm still left on them. I burn HT-10's down to the backers, and they tend to wear unevenly and crumble. Not the ST43. They are quite spendy ($250+) but they are worth it when spreading the cost. I have no experience with the 97, but they are old tech compared to the ST43. The ST43 stop the car, where you want, and how often you want with no compromises, all weekend long.

I've been running HP+ for a couple of years now with no issues also. However, I'm using a Massive brake kit and running on 200 tread wear tires. Also, my regular track (Putnam Park) is not a heavy-braking track.

Out of curiosity, how sticky of a tire are you running?

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I just ordered F+R 08s and will be getting them their own set of Brembo blanks.

I've seen over 4 pairs of cracked brembo disc from track use. One pair was on my car :rippedoff:

Do the stock rotors ever seem to warp using the PFC's? Or do the pads die before the rotors wear out.

another vote for PFC. stupid cheap for e30s. I run superblue/typ 200, cheap blanks, stainless lines, PF08 front/PF11 rear for some trail braking fun. super smooth, good bite, locks r comps up from triple digits as many times as you want.

Yes, PFC E30s rule the braking zone, and yes, buy the cheapest rotors you can find and change them whenever changing pads. I learned not to buy rebuilt calipers from some places as they are aftermarket junk... better to rebuild your OEM calipers. I have always been happy with RBF 600.

Rebuild the calipers if you can (or buy rebuilt). You will be amazed at the brown muck that's behind the caliper piston...

I run 08's in the track car like everyone else and absolutely love them.

I have cracked a rotor - but it took 2 years and over 15 track days with 2 drivers, so more like 30 track days. That was also over 2 sets of pads. Probably a good idea to replace the rotors each time you do the pads. It's cheap insurance.

Make sure you bed them in before heading out to the track, that makes a big difference.

would you suggest replacing the brake master cylinder as well? and rebuilt calipers?

Good to know. I was just asking because coming from an S2000 people liked to run a different compound in rear.
