Labor Day Gingerman HPDE event with Midwestern Council

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs - http://www.mcscc.org/

    04-Sep-2006

Labor Day Monday Sept. 4 will feature our second-ever full day, on-track HPDE (High Performance Drivers Education) event. Instructors will show you the fast line around one of the safest tracks in the country, with tons of practice time to become one with the track. Our more experienced drivers are also welcome to attend for a full day of open lapping. It's hours of track time for just $150. Tech and safety requirements follow standard MC Time Attack/Autocross rules, EXCEPT competition harnesses are NOT required. Practically any safe street or race car is welcome.

p.s. South Haven, MI is beautiful and can be used as a "Labor Day Vacation" excuse! I'm gonna probably try to use this!

that's all i know at the moment, but should definitely be fun. i heard its a beautiful track (and have seen it passing on the highway when I was a kid and wanting to go there!!). Also saw a Lotus on a trailer when I was getting a kiddie cone at a Ice Cream shop one time in South Haven.

I'm gonna twist my parents' arms to go up and play golf and relax, then hit it up on Monday. 8)

I'm gonna have to find a way to get my kayak up there and do some camping or fishing or something and make it a small vacation.

            Answer to the question . . .

            David,
Depending on turnout we will divide entrants into as many as 6 groups based on experience and vehicle performance. If we sell out your worst case would be about 1-1/2 hours on track plus lunch-time low-speed touring. If it's less than capacity (we were about 2/3 last year) we'll have fewer groups and more track time so two hours or a little over is more likely.

Our first big event of the year was only last weekend so we're finishing up some details and the entry form now, it should be up on MAE for online registration within a couple weeks. (The event itself is contracted and firm.) Thanks for asking, hope to see you there.

            Regards,

There will be tons of laughing, and smiling, and grinning. Its a blast.

I'll have to look at the map - maybe we can caravan it part of the way if I go.

im showing up in a full F1 race suit. :drink:

Do you know if they supply helmets, if not, what kind do I need to get?

I would prob. be going up your guys way anyways, so a caravn sounds cool to me..

I guess safety wise, all I really need to check are my bushings, and I should be good to go..

Some groups have loaner helmets - I'd check before you register.

Safety wise, check out every aspect of your car - brake pads, new fluid, condition of bushings, tires. No big leaks.

Go to the Buckeye BMWCCA site and look at their tech inspection form - it will give you an idea of what you need to do. Dont overlook small stuff - I got dinged for crummy wiper blades.

Considering Gingerman is 30 minutes away from my house, I think I should go to this. :)

I have a whole setup from Flying Brick Performance coming as well - IE springs, Koni's, big sways. I already have the Falken 615's and HP+ pads all around.

Sounds like an E30 good time!!!
