    M10 track car?

I think I got hooked, but don't want to abuse my 325is anymore. And it's my daily, so I don't want to be out a car if something goes wrong. I was thinking about picking up an early 318, but had a few concerns.

Can rear drums be used without much problems at the track? Or must I swap out for rear discs?

How light can an early 318 be made? (without CF or other extreme things)

I would be putting in my IE3 springs and picking up some Bilstein Sports.

    Any other issues?

I cant think of any reasons why it would be to much trouble to change out the drums to disks. I would just do that.

You can run an m10 in ITB and be competitive among the others. There's a local who's badass in it with the drums and all in the rear.

A buddy of mine is killing FSP in auto-x with his m10 on hoosiers. For these light cars and the class - it's all driver. Picutre an m10 having the FTD till the big boy Vette's and the others run :p

Yeah, I've been curious about FSP M10's... and gas mileage to events would rock!!

And Porterfield sells high performance rear brake shoes!!!

Pick up an early 318, do a disc conversion, and then marvel at the differences between L-Jet and Motronic. Also marvel at the oil leaks, the huge HUGE loss of power compared to an m20, and all the fun shit you get to upgrade.
Remember, it has 45mm struts up front. See, when metric mechanic brags about making 150 HP out of an m10, and says that the engine only lasts 15 hours, you know its a POS.
At least you can catch up on your sleep down the front straights. Oh, and it wont handle any better than a 325 if you make it as light as an m10.
If you want to lose your balls, at least swap in an m42.
