    Front suspension travel question

My Lemons/ChumpCar E30 runs a Bilstein Sport shock with the bump stop cut in half, and H&R race springs with one coil cut off. It has E36M3 strut mounts with the quasi camber plates that set on top of the strut mount. I put a zip tie around the shock's shaft, and just bouncing the fender by hand pushed it off the shaft. The gland nut isn't hitting, but it's getting damn close. Also, the shock is clearly riding on the remaining bit of bump stop, as the front is very stiff (for that spring).

As I understand it, I can fix this the right way by going to a coilover setup and shortening the strut. That's fine, but $ wise not doable at the moment. Shortening the strut and keeping the stock spring won't work either because the spring perch will hit the tire (255/40/17). At this point I think my best option would be going to ground control's Spec E30 camber plate and putting the ride height back up where it is now. That should gain me about .75" I believe.

I realize there isn't really a question here, but am I missing anything, or does anyone have a better suggestion? Thanks.

The GC plates will gain you the travel with the shorter stack height as well as drop the car a bit. I'd say thats pretty much your only option with stock diameter springs. Does the car bottom out in the front as it is? I would think that it would

I don't know that using the GC's would help you, as you've already got a shorter stack height with the camber plate on top of the strut top.

No I've got a thicker stack height with these style plates.

Surprisingly it doesn't seem to bottom out, at least I can't detect it. I'd really like to get off the bump stop though, the roll stiffness front to rear is way off.

The camber plates he has stack on top of the stock strut mount, the GC 's eliminate the stock strut mount completely

I asked Ground Control if they would sell my just the front pieces of their coilover kit and no dice, complete kits only. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but not my business. I may explore putting together my own kit.

They will certainly just sell you the camber plates. You can build everything else from there for not a lot of money. I have a build thread on here where I built a set of coilovers for my e34 using corrado koni inserts (same thing GC uses but they have them re-valved)

Thanks I'll look for it. I think I'll try that route, I've got till March until I'm driving it again.
