    Race seat side mount brackets

Fitting a side mount race seat and I have some questions.

    1. The seat is wider at the front bolts holes compared to the rear holes by about an inch. Does it matter if the brackets will not be parallel or should I space them to make them parallel?

2.Locally there is this guy selling E30 race seat brackets that fit the standard sliding mechanism. They are like flat plates. Apparently these are made for E30s.

Anyone using these? I'm nearly 300lbs and 6'2" - linebacker gone to seed :) Will they be ok for me? Strong enough? Will they allow enough seat travel?

I have a older sparco Evo 3 and use massivebrakes brackets for the oem sliders. It does have a spacer and a couple washers. Best thing you could do is get the oem slider and one of the side brackets and mock it up your probably going to need some sort of spacer in the front. Alas I'm 6'4 and 160lbs so I can't vouch for the weight. But they seem very study. Also do you even know what brand brackets they are.

Reference pic from massivebrakes, you can see the spacer in the front

I would highly recommend against sliders. If you must, please go with a FIA rated slider that uses a double locking mechanism. The OEM sliders are not designed for this type of use.

I have found that the Planted brand side mounts are the lowest profile. Use with either the VAC billet aluminum floor mounts or the Garagistic copies.

Me too. Do it once and do it right.

I totally disagree with this statement

The OEM sliders are way beefier that Momo's or Sparco flimsy sliders.

As for VAC plates, you get fixed bases. Not sliding. I myslef prefer fixed bases for improved feel, but it becomes a personal taste at that point
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

We used OMP steel side mounts directly on the floor and made spacers/bushings to compensate for the width of the seat front to back, as well as drilled new holes and trimmed it in the back to lean it slightly more to allow for 6'4" drivers on the team. We don't have sliders or floor mount bases to maximize headroom under the roll cage and since we are all similar in height don't need adjustment that a slider (or going to different bolt holes in a floor mount base) would provide.
