    So Cal RallyX 10-14 / 10-15

There is going to be a rallyx at a new venue the weekend of October 14/15. It will be at the Johnson Valley OHV area out by Victorville, which is supposed to be about one hour and forty minutes from southern Orange county (Mission Viejo/Lake Forest) according to Yahoo maps.

Some pictures of the event (not mine). You have to page down to find them.

A fun weekend, but very dusty. The surface does not break down too much, but what does break down is a very fine powder. The pictures don't quite do it justice. My car(not my E30) is a cheap beater and is only used for rallyx and in the future for rallying so I expect it to get dirty. If I had a new STi like the guy who took the pictures I don't think I would take it there to race. The inside of my car is absolutely filthy. But if you don't mind getting your car dirty, there will be another event in three weeks. If you go to the first link I posted above, they have details about the upcoming event.

Actually, people quite frequently do these rallyx events in someone elses car: they get one from Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, etc. for the day.

You don't have to have a turbocharged AWD car to have fun or be fast. The fastest time this last weekend was set by a front drive Sentra. The only mods that I could see was that the guy brought some wheels with rally tires that he bolted on for the races. My car is a formerly 73 HP RWD Corolla that I doubt has much over 100 HP if even that, and I turned some times that were right in with the street stock or street mod 4 wheel drive cars.
