I've heard of some E30 drivers ditching their rear sway bars during track day to help with handling and getting the power down. I'm curious, what kind of improvements do you see? Is it really better than just leaving the bar in? I'm hoping to here some of the pros and cons before I take off to PIR this weekend.

CorvallisBMW-
You doing the TeamContinental day this weekend? If so, I'll see you there! My name is Mark, I'll be in the bronze 325is.
As far as the rear SB goes: It varies a lot with the car setup and bushing condition. I'd experiment, just disconnect one of the rear links for a session.
PS: The weather is looking good for Saturday!

What's going on at PIR this weekend??
Just disconnect one endlink of the bar. If you don't like it put it back on at the next break. But also relise guys that do this don't usually just remove the rear bar. They adjust other things as well on the car to companste for the lack of a rear bar.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

I race an E30 with NASA OH/IN region and have Ground Control coil over kit with Koni Adjustable shocks. I have poly throughout the entire car and I keep my stock front and rear sway bars in with poly bushings. I like the feel of a tight car that I know what it is going to do, maybe a little on the conservative side. I agree with a stock set up (springs and shocks and old rubber bushings) you may want to keep sway bar in. Try it detached for a session, but remember to go out knowing your car WILL handle different.Kevin Gibson
