Just wanted to add two things:

In 88 the e engine did become the super eta, but only in the E28. The M20B27 stopped in the E30 chassis in 1987.

And in addition to having different heads, the eta and i motors also have different pistons, rods, and crankshafts, as well as different electronics.

in 88 they made the "e" engine into a "super eta"

the "i" and the "e" engine have different heads, and they rev to different rpm's.

the "i" engine makes a lot more horsepower, and around the same amount of torque.

This is VERY incorrect. In 88 both the e30 and e28 got the super eta...

For real? I didn't see that in the books for some reason... Well, I stand corrected!

Edit: Something in my brain told me I had a 50/50 shot of being wrong... lol

        Time for beer.
